SUPERYACHT DECK CREW

The IYT Superyacht Deck Crew Course is a five-day MCA-recognised entry-level training programme designed for individuals who want to begin a career in the superyacht industry. This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical training to provide students with the essential skills required to work as a professional superyacht crew member.

The course introduces students to yacht operations, onboard safety, deck responsibilities, and the professional standards expected within the international superyacht industry.


Modules Covered

Superyacht Deck Crew: Introduction to deck operations, crew responsibilities, and life onboard a superyacht. 

VHF Radio Operators: Basic marine radio communication procedures and safe communication practices. 

Small Power Boat and RIB Master: Practical boat-handling skills and a separate licence for small boats up to 15 metres (no engine limit). 

Nautical Terminology and Relative Direction: Essential maritime terminology and vessel orientation. 

Checks and Maintenance: Basic onboard inspections and maintenance procedures. 

Safety Equipment: Familiarisation with essential yacht safety equipment. 

Ropework: Practical knot-tying and line-handling techniques. 

Eligibility Requirements

To enrol in the IYT Superyacht Deck Crew Course, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years of age 

Hold all required STCW Basic Safety Training certificates 

No previous superyacht experience is required.

Assessment

Students will complete:

1 Written Examination 

1 Practical Assessment
