YACHT MASTER COASTAL SAIL / CATAMARAN

This certificate is a recreational certificate of competency for command of a sailing catamaran up to 24 meters in length and up to 60 nautical miles offshore.

It is a comprehensive 6-day course which includes the practical on water examination.

*Those who have obtained the Yachtmaster Coastal Sail - Catamaran CoC, can automatically obtain the “International Certificate of Competency (ICC)”, provided the student meets the requirements as laid down by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (Resolution 40).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
-Must be at least 18 years of age
-A VHF Radio Operators Certificate, or
-Must take the full IYT VHF-SRC Marine Communications course
-To have logged over 800 nautical miles at sea
-200 of which must have been as crew or captain of sailing catamaran <24m
-25 days at sea as watch leader/skipper including 12 hours underway on watch at night

*Minimum sea time must have been met before the final examination.

*If a candidate already holds an IYT Yachtmaster Coastal Sail certificate, the modules for catamaran training can be a 1.5 to 2-day course. 

 *This certification is for recreational use only and may never be upgraded to a professional certificate.
